No matter how diehard of a poker enthusiast one is, there comes a time when playing at regular online poker tables all of the time gets boring.  At this point, you need something new to liven up the game again for you.  And there is no better way to do this than to take part in a multi player online Texas Holdem tournament.

However, one thing you’ll have to note is that your chances of winning in this multi player online tournament is a lot slimmer than coming out a winner at the regular tables.  That’s why one needs to use a good strategy if they are to survive the onslaught of what could possibly be hundreds of other players in the tourney.

Some people believe that it is best to play aggressive early on in order to double one’s stack.  But the problem with this strategy is that there are too many wild players in the beginning who will play nearly every hand to the end.  It is often these types who double their stack early only to go out not long after.

Instead, one should play tight early on and only play sure hands.  Once the wild players are out and you’ve identified some weaker players where chips can be taken from, then it is a good idea to start betting out a little more in the middle stages of the tourney. 

If you do survive to the late stages of a multi player online tournament, then you’ll notice that play gets a lot tighter the closer it gets to the guaranteed money as everyone is trying to let others bust.  You might be able to steal some chips in this situation and this will set you up for bigger and better things later on.

But remember, your goal should simply be to finish in the money of a multi player online tournament as dreaming of winning it all might negatively affect your play and force you to make bad decisions.  And making bad decisions isn’t going to help you at all in a multi player online tournament.
